Effect of acupuncture on in vitro fertilization
Many patients try to seek acupuncture to improve in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes. We know that and we are here to help you on your fertility journey, wherever you’re starting from.
In collaboration with Medistella* we are able to arrange your acupuncture in countries like Spain, Cyprus as well as in the Czech republic!
Ladies are encouraged to receive acupuncture treatments before and after their embryo transfer. According to recent studies the most effective fertility treatments involve a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and traditional medical interventions. However, conception does sometimes occur when acupuncture and herbal medicines are used without traditional medical interventions. Patients are commonly treated for three to four months before an IUI, in vitro fertilization (IVF), or donor-egg transfer. That means that you can start your treatment plan even earlier (before you go abroad for the treatment itself)! The treatment plans are generally designed to restore the female’s balance which strengthens and helps her combat any negative effects they may be experiencing in pregnancy including, but not limited to, depression, morning sickness, dizziness and headaches.
What does the acupuncture do actually? It increases blood flow to the endometrium, also helps to facilitate a thick, rich lining. Acupuncture is often combined with herbs to treat elevated follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), repeated pregnancy loss, unexplained infertility, luteal phase defect, hyperprolactinemia (when not caused by a prolactinoma), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) with annovulatory cycles, and male factor including men affected with sperm-DNA-fragmentation.
The risks when using acupuncture for fertility treatment are minimal. A risk of miscarriage may develop if incorrect acupuncture points are used when a woman is pregnant. This is one reasons why those wishing to include acupuncture in their treatment regimen should only be treated by an acupuncturist who specializes in treating fertility disorders. Our partners Medistella* established a great cooperation in Prague for instance and you can check their video here. Remember, feeling relaxed is one of the most important aspects when having your therapy in abroad.
